Back to School Worksheets

Why are these back-to-school worksheets so fun?

Coloring is involved!

I mean…. isn’t everything more fun when coloring is involved?

Adult coloring books have become super popular for a reason.

Something that feels tedious and mundane becomes something relaxing and a fun reward when suddenly coloring a picture is involved.

High-interest topics

These back-to-school passages are relatable to students!

Students right now are having all kinds of feelings about returning to school.

These passages reflect their own experiences, or experiences that they might see a brother, sister, or friend feeling.

Short & concise

I firmly believe that a passage SHOULD NOT take up a whole reading block.

A passage and comprehension questions serve the purpose of assessing if a student comprehends a text.

I used to deal with students who would take a full hour to read an overly long passage… and never even get to the questions.

These passages are short and concise.

There are 4 comprehension questions based on various reading strategies.

Assess the students’ understanding and comprehensionΒ of the text, but leave plenty of time during your reading block for other things (ALL THE THINGS!).

Back to School Worksheets

What is included in these back-to-school worksheets?

You receive 5 back-to-school reading comprehension worksheets in this set.

Plus an answer key (of course!).

All the reading passage topics and pictures are back-to-school themed.

This means that the passages tap into those common feelings our students experience like being nervous about the first day and meeting new friends!

Here are the titles of the passages:

  • Meet the Teacher
  • Music Lessons
  • Supply Shopping
  • The Bus Stop
  • The First Day
