My FAVORITE Prefixes and Suffixes Worksheets!
What are these?
This is a set of 10 color by numbers for prefixes and suffixes!
Each of these worksheets has a black & white graphic at the bottom.
This is the mystery picture!
As kids correctly answer questions about prefixes and suffixes, they use their answer choices to color in the mystery picture.
What topics are included?
This set includes 10 worksheets (plus 10 answer keys, of course!) to assess students’ understanding of prefixes and suffixes.
The following topics are included:
- identifying a prefix in a word (ex: mis- in “mistake”)
- identifying what a prefix means (ex: re- means ‘again’)
- prefix meanings (ex: “unfinished” means not finished)
- identifying a prefix from a description (ex: not responsible = irresponsible)
- identifying a suffix in a word (ex: -less in “careless”)
- identifying what a suffix means (ex: -ant is “a person”)
- suffix meanings (ex: “collectible” means able to collect)
- identifying a suffix from a description (ex: a quiet manner = quietly)
Why are these more fun than a normal worksheet?
Kids LOVE these – finally, a worksheet that they WANT to complete!
These color by number worksheets increase student engagement and motivation, which is AMAZING when it comes to tricky topics like prefixes and suffixes that can sometimes shake student confidence.
What are the mystery pictures?
There are certain things that make my heart sing – and these pictures are doing it!
All the mystery pictures in these color by number worksheets are various prefixes and/or suffixes!
Like “re-,” “pre-“, “ness-,” etc.
I LOVE it when the mystery pictures coordinate with the concept that students are learning, so these are super fun and on topic!
