Holidays Around the World in December Books
A World of Cookies for Santa by M.E. Furman
This book does specifically focus on Christmas, but it is a multicultural experience of cookies around the world and what treats are shared with Santa by kids all across the world.
This book was fun, and your class will love hearing about traditions and rituals that kids across the globe celebrate each year.

Celebrations by Barnabas and Anabel Kindersley
So I don’t actually recommend reading this one out loud.
Why?
Well – it’s pretty information dense and would take you FOREVER.
But I 100% recommend leaving this one out in your classroom library for kids to flip through.
Your students will adore the pictures, and every kid in your classroom will be clamoring to get their hands on this book.
Plus, each page has a kid dressed in a specific holiday outfit.
Your students will have a blast seeing kids just like them celebrating holidays in countries around the world.

Let’s Celebrate by Kate DePalma
This is a fairly quick read-aloud full of beautiful pictures and fun rhymes!
Each page is about a different holiday around the world, many that I had never heard of before.
Ask your students before reading the book: what do all the special days have in common?

Our Favorite Day of the Year by A.E. Ali
This one makes a great holidays around the world read aloud.
It’s all about how people have a favorite day – but that day can be different for everyone!
It features an inclusive classroom full of lots of nationalities, and how each student has their favorite day because they celebrate something different.
It pinpoints three different holidays, and really hits the idea home that everyone celebrates different things.

Need Holidays Around the World in December reading worksheets?
You and your students will LOVE these winter holidays around the world reading comprehension color-by-numbers!
How does a reading comprehension color by number work?
First, students read the passage about the holiday (such as Christmas in Australia, Diwali, Las Posadas, Hanukah, etc).
Next, students answer 4 comprehension questions (I’m a firm believer that a reading comprehension worksheet should absolutely not take a whole class period to complete).
Then, students use their answer choices to color a matching themed picture.
Woohoo!
Students LOVE these (and will ask for more reading comprehension…. seriously).
