Reading comprehension passages questions answers

Teachers, looking for reading comprehension passages with questions & answers?

Reading comprehension is one of those things that we NEED to have our students practice – but finding enough resources and activities can be challenging.

Not to mention, students generally detest reading passages.

BUT I have something that is going to completely change the way that your students complete reading comprehension – and I cannot wait to share it with you!

What is color by number reading comprehension?

Color By Number Reading Comprehension is the most FUN way that your students will review and practice their reading comprehension!

This is a confidence booster and major motivator for students.

Color-by-number reading comprehension passages questions will TRANSFORM your reading block – kids LOVE completing these!

Basically, students read a short passage.

They answer 4 questions in the passage.

Then, they color a picture at the end based on their answer choices!

Um – can you say FUN?!

Reading comprehension passages questions answers

How does it work?

Let me tell you how it works!

Kids first read the passage.

Next, they answer comprehension questions.

Each comprehension question answer choice dictates a color next to it (like green, red, blue, etc.).

Students will color the coded picture based on the answer that they choose.

Color by number reading comprehension is super easy to get the hang of – once you assign it once to students, it’s an incredibly simple center that they’ll already know the directions for and get right to work!

What are the benefits?

No prep

Teachers, I see you, and you’re busy.

You don’t have enough prep time.

You bring work home and do it on the couch while watching Netflix.

Your “30-minute lunch break” consists of shoveling a piece of pizza in your mouth in the 5 minutes you have to yourself after getting your kiddos through the obnoxiously long lunch line.

Teachers have enough on their plates.

Print these out. And you’re done.

Make it a literacy center for the year and save yourself time to spend doing other things that fill your cup.

Engaging & fun

I mean, students get a coloring reward at the end of doing reading comprehension.

Does it get more fun than that?

I get SO many messages from teachers across the country telling me how much their students love these.

I’ve heard about students decorating their lockers with the pictures. Students ask for these during recess. Students asking for more to bring home.

You guys have no idea how much joy it brings me to hear that kids actually WANT to do reading comprehension.

Easy to grade

Why are these easy to grade?

First of all, you get an answer key!

Second… just look at the picture.

Is it colored correctly?

If not, that means there was a mistake in the answers. If it looks good, move on!

You can also print out the answer key so that students can check their own!

High-interest passages

The passages are ageappropriate and interesting to students.

They involve fun scenarios and stories that students enjoy reading.

I also work hard to make sure that characters have a variety of names from across the world and span many cultures.

I want a student to read these and maybe recognize their name or a classmate’s name in the passage.

Short passages & questions

Finally – these passages and questions are short.

They are one page long.

I used to hate copying passages that needed to be stapled together.

I could not stand passing out a passage and having a student take the full reading period to complete itor worsenot ever finishing it.

These short passages and four questions serve their purpose in you assessing students’ reading comprehension.

A passage doesn’t need to be 3 pages for students to understand what it’s about.

Four questions allow you to assess students on the story – quickly and efficiently.
