Books for Teaching Plant Life Cycle
No matter the age, ALL kids love read-alouds!
I included my favorite plant life cycle read-alouds before.
Just have time for one? One Bean is definitely the one to grab, but I included other great ones as well in case it’s not available in your classroom library.
For older kids who already have a basic understanding of plant life cycles, I highly recommend A Seed Is Sleepy. It has interesting pictures and unique plants that it discusses. The illustrations are fantastic as well!
Check them out here (Amazon Affiliate links):
- A Seed Is Sleepy (I recommend for older kids, not students learning about plant life cycles for the first time)
- A Tree Is A Plant
- One Bean
- Pumpkin Pumpkin

Plant Life Cycle Paper Plate Life Cycle Wheel
Another hands-on plant life cycle for kids is this life cycle craft.
First, each student will need to cut out the inner part of two paper plates (make sure they are not wax paper plates.)
Next, on one paper plate, students will draw and label each part of the plant life cycle.
Then, have students decorate the second paper plate and label the life cycle of a plant.
Next, have them cut out a fourth of the paper plate.
Finally, put the paper plates together using a page fastener or brad pin.
Students can spin and move through the life cycle with this craft!
Students can pick a plant of their choice to illustrate here.
