Fire Safety Week is just around the corner, and I know how important it is to find engaging ways to teach such a serious topic.

Frank’s Fire Truck is an absolute gem for Fire Safety Week! I love how it combines a fun, adventurous story with important lessons about fire safety. The illustrations are vibrant, and the simple yet meaningful storyline keeps students engaged from start to finish. It’s the perfect balance of entertaining and educational, making it an ideal choice for teaching fire safety in a way that really resonates with kids.

Firefighter Ted

Firefighter Ted is a cute story about Ted, a little bear who takes matters into his own hands when he discovers there’s no firefighter in his town. With his trusty fire hat and can-do attitude, Ted jumps into action, solving everyday ‘emergencies’ in his own creative ways. I mean, probably not the best ways… but it’s still a fun read for Fire Safety Week 🙂

My kids loved following his funny adventures while also learning important fire safety tips. It’s the perfect mix of humor and helpful lessons, making it a great read for Fire Safety Week!

Fire, Fire

If you’re looking for a great book to teach your class about fire safety, Fire! Fire! by Gail Gibbons is a must-read! This book walks kids through what happens when a fire starts and how firefighters jump into action to help. What I love about it is how it shows different types of fires—like in a city, a forest, and even on a boat. Each section explains how fire crews use different equipment to handle the situation.

The pictures are colorful and detailed, making it super easy for students to follow along. Gail Gibbons does such a great job breaking things down in a way that’s clear, but not too overwhelming for young readers. My students are always fascinated by the behind-the-scenes look at how firefighters work to keep us safe. Plus, it opens up great conversations about fire safety at home and in school. It’s definitely a book I pull out every Fire Safety Week!

Miss Mingo and the Fire Drill

Miss Mingo’s Fire Drill is a fun and quirky way to introduce fire safety to younger students. While I personally found some of the humor a bit annoying, kids absolutely love it and thought it was funny.

They were engaged, laughing at the animal characters, and really got into the story.

It’s a great way to make a serious topic like fire safety feel approachable for kids, even if it wasn’t my personal favorite. If you’re looking for a book that your class will enjoy, this one definitely delivers!

Stop, Drop, Roll

Stop, Drop, and Roll by Charles Ghigna is another excellent choice for Fire Safety Week.

I love how it takes such an important message and presents it in a simple, easy-to-understand way. The rhyming text and engaging illustrations make it a hit with students, and they quickly pick up on the fire safety steps without even realizing they’re learning! It’s a perfect read-aloud book that gets kids thinking about fire safety in a fun and non-intimidating way.
