Lillian’s Right to Vote
I chose this book because it showcases the hardships that Blacks faced to get the right to vote.
Lillian is a Black woman during the Civil Rights Movement in the United States, on her way to vote.
While on her way to vote, she remembers the sacrifices that her ancestors went through due to slavery and discrimination.
This moving book shows the history of the Civil Rights Movement and the enormous difficulties that people went through for the right to vote, as well as the perseverance to get that vote.
